Nice Buns

I like big buns and I can not lie…

Okay, in all seriousness, I have been pouring over cute headbands with buttons and ear savers, in preparation of going back to work. I love all of the creativity and variety in patterns that are out there, but with a household of six to outfit in this stuff, my wallet is not happy. And you know this Taurus is in a constant battle of wanting to save money but also being a sucker for retail therapy.

After a physically distant driveway hangout with my besties, (side note: this creative girl time is everything to me), I had an a-ha moment when my hero-nurse friend showed up in space buns, with her mask elastics attached. She also showed up with the cutest chocolates I’ve ever seen, but I digress.

I could not get over how brilliant this is, and it gave me all the 90’s vibes that I cherish and hold dear. Plus, it is the easiest solution to my problem of not finding masks that fit my youngest kids.

I am all for supporting small businesses and the amazing sewing queens that are outfitting everyone with masks and such, but I am also well aware it is not financially feasible for everyone, or possibly it is difficult to find these masks, etc at all.

Fun Buns

Have fun with your buns! I opted for leaving a few face framing pieces of hair down, paired with my big hoops. I twisted my hair into the buns, because sometimes I’m extra AF. For my daughter, I just did basic buns. I like to gather the hair and twist it, then wrap the hair around itself. I secure it with an elastic, but you could use bobby pins or a scrunchie too.

Next, put on your mask, and fix the elastics to your buns and voila! Your ears are saved, your hair is cute (and you can get away with that when-did-I-even-wash-my-hair-last quarantine trend), PLUS you’ve just saved money. Win, win, win.
