The Skin-ny

The Skinny on Skin Care.png

In the age of filters, and face tune, it’s easy to fake great skin. But do you know what’s better than slapping the Valencia-veil over your pic (seriously guys, we all know it’s a filter)? Being a real life, skin-glow-getter.

This time around I went to an expert to exfoliate our brains of myths, smooth out any wrinkles in perception, and pop those built-over-time, bad habit blemishes.

That’s right, we’re getting the skinny on skin care from my dear friend Dina Kesaris, a licensed esthetician and my personal skin care guru. Dina has graciously offered up her top tips just for you.

Take it away, Dina

Work It

With any product that you put on your skin, face especially, It’s really important to take a few extra minutes, or even seconds-if you’re strapped for time- and really work the product into your skin. Give yourself a nice facial massage. By really working the skin, you are stimulating blood flow and really waking up those muscles. This will not only give your skin a nice glow, but it will also give it the extra TLC that it so rightly deserves.

Radical Retinoids

Retinoids are a person’s best friend. It is best to use this type of powerful product at night, before you apply your moisturizer. Not only does it help with wrinkles and the fun of aging by plumping us up so we look and feel better, but is also really helpful with acne.

There are some great, inexpensive, effective products out there I really like ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream. You can find it at Target, or Amazon which runs right around $20.

PCA’s Intensive Age Refining Treatment % Pure Retinol is a star in my eyes. You can find it here.

You can’t go wrong with either one of them.

The Princess and the Pea

You only need a pea size amount of product.

Let me repeat.

You only need a pea size amount of product.

That’s it!

Sunscreen Superpower

Speaking of amounts, DO NOT skimp on the sunscreen. Sunscreen should be used every. single. day. Every day. Just do it!

Solar MD and La Roche Posay are my go to’s.

A client of mine, who is a dermatologist, once told me that Mexoryl is so important in a sunscreen. Any sunscreen you buy should have this ingredient listed.

Mexoryl is one of the most effective filters of all wavelengths of ultraviolet light. This makes it highly powerful in fighting off wrinkles and aging. You can thank me later. You’re welcome.

This is what turned me on to La Roche Posay Anthelios SX Moisturizer with Mexoryl. You can find it at Target or Amazon

AquaFORall

Lastly, I’ll leave you with something nice and simple. I LOVE Aquaphor. Do not overlook this gem. From eczema, to cracked heels, to soothing lip balm, this product helps everyone from babies to boomers.

I’d like to thank Dina for all of her insights and tips. Remember, the best wrinkle is the one you never get.

As always, if we didn’t cover something or you have topic specific questions, feel free to comment below or send me an email. We are here to help.
